Louisiana medical license renewal requirements

The LSBME will be closed Tuesday, September 10th @ 1:00pm through Wednesday, September 11th due to Hurricane Francine. Depending upon the outcome of the damage, we may need to extend the closure. Check back here for the most up-to-date information.

Renewals

In order to renew online you will need to have Edge, Google Chrome or Firefox.

RENEW ONLINE HERE - LaMED DashBoard is our online portal which you must use to renew. All license and permit renewals are processed online except for physicians in training (PGY, GETP, and FEL permit holders).

You will receive various renewal reminder notices as a courtesy; however, you may only renew 56 days before your expiration date.

Renewal fees must be paid online via credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover only). We DO NOT ISSUE REFUNDS (unless you erroneously make multiple payments).

Renewals after license has expired
If your license has been expired longer than 1 year, you must submit a reinstatement or a re-licensure application. Please contact the licensing department at licensing@lsbme.la.gov to verify what application is needed. If your license has been expired for less than 1 year, you can use the online renewal application; you will be assessed a late fee.

Continuing Education requirements for renewal
All LSBME licensees have first time CE requirements and then ongoing annual CE requirements.

Please see our Continuing Education page for details. (Please note additional certificates required annually for Medical Psychologists, Midwives, and Polysomnography Personnel)

Electronic Education Tracker (CE Broker)
All LSBME licensees are required to use CE Broker to track their CME/CE. Licensees cannot renew if the CE tracking system does not show the proper number of credits for renewal or completion of correct courses for first time renewal. To create a free account with CE Broker, go to: hhttps://cebroker.com/la/account/basic/. If you need assistance with creating the account, or loading your documents, please contact CE Broker directly via telephone at (877) 434-6323 or via email at support@CEBroker.com.

If you already have a CE Broker account and want to login, click HERE.

Exemptions
The only licensees exempted from CE requirements are Respiratory Therapists or Genetic counselors who work exclusively for the federal government or those Occupational Therapists who work exclusively for the state government. Those individuals must supply the LSBME licensing department with a letter from their employer verifying the dates of their employment, and a form (found below) verifying their exclusive employment. The letter and the form can be sent to licensing@lsbme.la.gov at any time, but no later than 30 days before the renewal date.
